New Adventures

This was yet another week of FUN FUN FUN! Dillon is beginning to master the art of snacking. I guess that's no shocker--the boy loves to eat.

He recently began eating meats and loves it! Here he is eating chicken and sweet potatoes.

We've begun training Dillon for gymnastics. I think he's a natural...

Just kidding!! He actually loves to bang on his drums with his feet.

His legs are quite strong. He is already able to stand (with some assistance).

This weekend we took a trip to LA to our favorite place...LA Farmers Market.

We also had time to swing by a restaurant that Hector and Lita used to visit a long, long time ago...El Salvadore Cafe.

Chillaxing Week?

With Lita (gramma) gone for most of the week, Dill tagged along with me to all my chiro appointments, mall trips and lunch dates. It turned out to be a busy and tired week. After all, it's not easy getting a 22 lb baby in and out of a carseat.

March Milestones

Sorry for the late post. I have been sick for the past two

weeks and I finally have a moment to catch up.

Since our last blog, little Dill has recently learned to sit up on his own so now he is able to keep himself company for a few minutes. That gives us enough time to sneak a meal or put a load in the laundry machine.

He also recently had his first bath while sitting up. It took him a few mintues to get used to the water but he sure loves splishing and splashing.

He uses a shower hat which makes it much easier for Dad to wash his hair. Can you say "Michelin Man"? How can you not love those rolls!!!

Also this month, Dillon uttered his first word...can you guess? Why, "MAMA", of course!! And, when you put your arms out to carry him, he recognizes this and smiles in excitement.

Dilly's mid-day snack consists of apple juice and banana puffs. He is still learning to pick up the sippy cup on his own...it's quite heavy but I don't know why he insists on using one hand and not both...See, left...

And right...He's our crazy little guy!!!

Happy Half Birthday!

Dillon Raiden Escobar turned 6 months last Tuesday. We went to visit Dad at his office and had lunch. It was fun sitting and watching the water fountain. He got another round of shots at the doctor's office and the way we see it, he got top scores in weight at 20.4lbs(89%), height at 27in (71%) and head size at 17-3/4in (84%).

So how much does Dilly despise peas?...He is so dramatic. By the way, he still hates peaches too.

We took a stroll on Sunday and boy was it hot.

Dillon as recently started feverishly tugging on his feet. Yesterday, he finally flipped over for the first time(back to front)...a little late? Maybe...but have you seen the size of his noggin?

So, last weekend, we attended a birthday party for one of Dilly's cousins. Dilly was, as usual, the center of attention. And he was such a good boy, not shedding a single tear for the entire 6 hours we were there! In fact, he took 2 short naps...one which was taken while a Mariachi Band blasted only a few feet away.

Weighing in at over 20 pounds, it is obvious that Dilly loves to eat, but he still despises peas and now, pears (below).

Today, he had peaches for the first time. The verdict isn't in yet on whether or not peaches will become a regular item on the menu.

We just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentines Day!

Hello blogger world!!! The Kawabata-Escobars have finally arrived!

Finally, we have decided to start our own family blog. Thank you to the Davis-Riveras and the Bowen family who have been the main sources of inspiration. We apologize to everyone who have asked us to set this up much sooner...but better late then never!

I have found that after experiencing childbirth, your entire world changes...some very significant (no sleep) and some not-so (should we watch Ozwald on Noggin or the 5 episodes of Greys Anatomy that have been DVRed). And it seems natural to want to share these new experiences with family and friends, especially since many of them live quite a distance away. We hope that through our photos and journaling, you may see a glimpse into our world.........

Dillon Raiden Escobar was born at 10:57pm on Sunday, August 24, 2008. My water broke at 4am. After I screamed and jumped out of bed (in hopes that our brand new king mattress was not damaged), Hector and I got ready and headed out to the hopital. We arrived and got set up at 6am. I was 3cm dialated. At 3pm, I got an epidural and by 6pm was about 8-9cm dialated. We never progressed any further. Instead, I got a fever and at 10pm, decided for a c-section. What can I say? No, I wasn't scared but yes, it hurt...A LOT!!!! But in the end, it was all worth it. Dillon came into our lives and everything before his birth is all but a distant memory.

Dillon has grown into a healthy and happy baby. He is always eating and laughing and eating and drinking. He hardly naps and still wakes up in the middle of the night for a feeding. His bottom teeth came in at 3 months and today, I saw that one of his top teeth has already broken through.

On his 5 month birthday, Dillon started eating rice cereal for breakfast. After only a few feedings, it was apparent that it was not enough so he began a diet of sweet potatoes. After a week of sweet potatoes, we moved on to carrots. But after 2 feedings, he had some digestion issues so we decided to clean up with sweet peas. After a few bites, he was DONE. Apparently, sweet peas were not sweet enough. Back to sweet potatoes...should have started with greens.
